Ship Island

ship treesI thought this picture was very interesting. It is of the SS Ayrfield, which was built in 1911 and used by the Australian government to transport U.S. troops and supplies during World War II. The ship found a second life as a coal transfer vessel until 1972, when it was abandoned to Sydney’s Homebush Bay. And now it has a mangrove forest growing on it.

I think this would be a very unique island to live on…or at least visit!
